The Pre-Conference Session of the 4th AIEAA Conference aims at animating the scientific debate on the proper design, implementation and evaluation of policies fostering sustainable agricultural innovation and expanding the knowledge base in this respect. The attention, in particular, is on the need of european agriculture of finding new ways to achieve higher production and productivity growth rates without jeopardizing the natural capital. This can be achieved by intensifying the use of knowledge: the only production factor that does not bring about negative environmental consequences.
